Sarah & Jason from United Kingdom
I’d like to begin with an anecdote. I was at a wedding at Como Lake in Italy, exactly one week after this wedding in Cyprus. I had found the location of the house where the preparations was to take place on Google Maps in the morning. As there was no parking lot near the house, I parked my car someplace within 15 minute walking distance. The house was the terrace flat on top of a historic building near the main street in downtown Como. You can read the whole story of “Bellapais Monastery Wedding Photos” at the bottom of the page (after the photos)…
….Main entrance door of the building was behind the Valentino shop on ground floor and a restaurant, the tables of which were spread out on the street. When I was about to enter the building, a bearded young man sitting at the first table of the next-door restaurant grabbed my attention. He was Jason from Ireland whose wedding I have photographed just last week and the lady with him was his wife Sarah! I went up to them and we hugged each other after a brief shock. The world really is a small place. I came to Como in Italy from Turkey and they came to Italy for their honeymoon and stopped by Como for lunch just for one hour. And what’s more, they were sitting in front of the house of my couple in Italy. This incident jogged in my memory as a wonderful coincidence and unforgettable memory.
Wedding Day
Sarah’s parents bought a summer house years ago in Zeytinlik district in Kyrenia, Cyprus. Sarah’s preparations with her friends commenced in this house. Jason was getting prepared with his friends in Ship Inn Hotel in the same district. After photographing both preparations, we made a short Kyrenia tour with Jason & Sarah for a brief external shooting. Then we have crossed to Bellapais Monastery where the marriage ceremony was to be performed.
Bellapais is an extraordinary place for wedding photos. It is one of the important, maybe the most important symbol of Kyrenia. Wedding ceremony here was really impressive. Then all guests lined up at the entrance of Bellapais Kybele Restaurant, which is a natural tunnel composed of ivy and our couple came to cocktail area by passing through this tunnel. After a long-lasting cocktail, we crossed to the garden of Abbey House for wedding reception. A nice surprise was waiting for us after a beautiful dinner, magnificently organized by CyprusWeddings. Sarah’s mother was an ex-dancer. Bride, groom, bridesmaids and best men had prepared a wonderful dance show with a choreography involving both Turkish and universal motives. Then the party lasted till the end of the night. One of the most joyful moments for me was watching the enthusiastic Irish dances. It was really an extraordinary sight.
I wish endless happiness to dear Sarah & Jason.
