I was very surprised when my friend Gülnaz invited me to her twin sister Nazgül’s wedding. It was three days away and I was in Turkey. In fact, there was not going to be a wedding when they first planned it. It was just going to be a family meal. But after deciding to wear a wedding dress, decorate the place and cut a cake, the event turned into a small wedding. Somehow, I managed to attend the wedding photography. Nazgül is the daughter of a Pakistani father and a Cyprus Turkish mother and Münir is from Lebanon. It was a truly cosmopolitan atmosphere. Everyone was friendly and intimate. The wedding was held at Gillham Vineyard Hotel. A concept hotel located on the hills of Girne, surrouded by vineyards that stretch down to the sea. This is a place with breathtaking views, perfect for relaxing with great peace of mind. Of course they have fantastic wines of their own production.
Beautiful Day Starting
First, I took photos of Gülnaz and Münir’s preparations. Then I did a lot of couple shots with the vineyards as the background. The hotel’s architecture which includes elements of Mediteranean architecture was a fantastic background for the shots. Before the reception, I took group shots in a vineyard area where all guests could participate.
Then everyone including the guests and the couple ate together at the 19 person dining table, chatted and raised their glasses. After cutting the cake and the first dance, everyone had a great time in this intimate atmosphere. With the flower tossing ceremony, we ended the night.
Gillham Vineyard Hotel truly offers great service with its wine and vineyard setting. I can say that I loved the pools located on different levels of the flat terrain. Of course, their magnificent rooms with terraces are also amazing. But what sets it apart is, of course, its wine menu. They have a very special wine bar here. Among their own wines Etel Flamma (Syrah) became my favorite. You should not miss their wine tour either. You get to tour the vineyards, learn about all the processes of wine making, taste wine and enjoy various local cheeses. It’s a very important place for those looking for an alternative holiday and peace. I would like to congratulate those who contributed.
