Nina and Michalis are a German couple, they are both medical doctors. Michalis is of Greek origin and originally Cretan. For this reason, they decided to have their wedding in Crete. They have a boy, Goorgious and a girl, Romy. A wonderful family in one word. I can say that it is for me easier to go to Greece then going to many place in Turkey. Flights from Athens to Izmir take 50 minutes and from Athens to Crete is a 45-minute flight. Beautiful Crete
Crete is also one of the Greek islands I prefer and love for summer holidays. Please click for the my article and photos I took at my previous visits of Crete and its cuisine. This place has a magnificent climate and clear sea. Perhaps the most cosmopolitan culture and history among the islands belong to this island. Especially Chania is a very impressive city. The imposing Ottoman mosque on the pier faces the Genoese houses. You can see the Byzantine ruins in the Venetian lighthouse. It is possible to see the traces of each period in the port city within walking distance.
On the wedding day, I left the hotel from Heraklion where I stayed towards the AirBnb villa where the couple was staying. It was a wonderful house with a magnificent view. Friends and relatives of the couple were also at home, and of course children. We started the shooting with preperation of the bride in a great atmosphere and Aegean Sea view. I cannot forget the taste of aperol spritz prepared by Michalis!
The Venue
Together we went to the wedding venue for the wedding ceremony and reception. Apxontiko Kthma Exclusive Events is a place located on a cool hill with a magnificent Aegean sea view. Nina’s arrival to the wedding venue was also very impressive. Bridesmaids and a Greek traditional music trio came to Michalis by walking.
The first meeting moment was truly one of the most romantic and emotional moments I have ever seen. When Michalis and Nina saw each other, they couldn’t control their tears. In fact, this emotionality continued throughout the wedding. You can see their love to each other very clearly from these tears. In particular, the crying of Michalis and her mother were also among the moments that affected me the most.
Afterwards there was great music and of course sirtaki! I couldn’t understand how the Greeks know such a complex dances in which individual figures were made in each song. So almost everyone knows every dance and there are so many kinds. Finally I asked them how this was possible. Many dances in Greece were taught in elementary school and are not forgotten naturally, like riding a bicycle. In this way, they can have fun together on special days and it really looks great.
After the wedding day, I disturbed my beloved Nina and Michalis once again the next day. In that amazing villa, we had a photo session together with the children and had the chance to chat more. Afterwards I went to the other side of the sea, to Turkey.
They were such great days, thanks to dear Nina and Michalis. I hope to meet again as soon as possible. I wish them a peaceful, happy and healthy life with their children. With my warm regards.
