Reene and Dennis are a British couple living in Beşiktaş, Istanbul. So happy that, they invited me to capture their daily life through the lens of my camera. As a documentary style family photographer, I aim to capture candid and authentic moments that truly reflect the essence of the family. So on the day of the photo shoot, I spent 4 hours with Reene, Dennis and Elijah. Consequently I got to know them and observe their daily routines.
Starting at the Home
Firstly, the morning started with breakfast where Elijah was happily munching away at his baby table. Then his grandparents joined the conversation via a video call. The playtime that followed was filled with laughter and joy, as the entire family, including their two cats got involved in the games.
We then headed out to their favorite cafe, where I captured the family in their natural habitat as they explored the streets of Istanbul. The afternoon was spent at home where Elijah had a peaceful lunch and later took a nap while his father read him fairy tales.
Moments of Daily Life
What I loved about this photoshoot was the oportunity to witness and capture the little yet meaningful moments that make up a family’s day. The absence of posed shots allowed me to capture the family’s true personalities and dynamics, making the photos all the more special.
In conclusion, it was a peaceful and enjoyable documentary family shoot that I was privileged to be a part of. Reene and Dennis were a wonderful family to work with. Undoubtedly I am grateful for the opportunity to capture their memories in a candid and natural way. Ordinary moments can indeed be very valuable and that’s what documentary photography is all about.
