Names: Carrie & Terry
Your jobs: Carrie – Administrator. Terry – Own Building Company
How did you meet? We were introduced through a friend.
How long have you been together? We met in May 2005
How long later you made a decision to get married? We spoke about marriage but decided to buy our home and have our children, a son and daughter.
When did he proposed and how? Terry proposed on holiday in Mexico in 2011. We were in an Italian restaurant with both our families, he had asked the waiters to “present” the ring. I was eating my dessert and felt something in my mouth, it was the ring. I looked down and Terry was on one knee. I said yes and all the fellow diners cheered and clapped.
Where was the wedding venue and how did you decide it? We decided on a destination wedding. We wanted somewhere that was affordable for our guests and not too far so that they could come for long weekend if they wished. We decided on Seahorse Beach Oludeniz, Turkey.
What can you say about your wedding concept? We wanted a relaxed atmosphere and a great party. We wanted bright colours to fit in with the beach/holiday feel and we used hearts on all of the personalised items, name cards, fans etc.
Preperation Period
When did you start to get prepared for your wedding date? We sent out our invitations around 13 months before the date. Next chose the bridesmaid dresses and worked the colour theme around that. Carrie started to buy decorations around 8/9 months before the date. As well as wedding dress fitting.
How was your wife/husband support to your preparation during this period? Terry was happy to let me do all of the preparation for the day, but he chose the outfits for him, best man, usher, father and father of the bride.
Did you select the dinner menu? We opted for a BBQ Buffet.
What was the menu? Fish, Steak, Chicken, Salads, Rice, Turkish Dishes.
How did you find you bridal dress? A friend recommended a shop to me, I looked through their website and selected a few dresses to try. At my appointment I tried on those dresses and some others. The dress I chose was brought in to the changing room and I actually said it wasn’t the style that I wanted. I tried it on and it was perfect.
How was your bouquet? I choose a plan white bouquet (Flowers). My bridesmaid had gerberas in red, yellow and orange.
Bouquet
What did you give the guest for wedding gift? like candies, drinks, etc. A crystal like photograph stand, like we used for name cards and personalised sweets. The younger guest had mini coloured lights (a toy) which they could use at the wedding. We also had personalised fans on the seats for the service.
Can you describe your wedding cake? We had a 3 tier wedding cake, in white icing with hearts in orange and red to match in with the theme. Each tier was a different flavour – chocolate, lemon and vanilla.
What was the first dance song in the party? and enterence song? Our first dance song was by Simply Red “You make me feel brand new”. Carrie walked down the aisle to Ellie Goulding “How Long Will I Love you”.
What was the the funniest moment? The Best Man and one of the bridesmaids were witnesses to the wedding. They were asked a question to which they both had to reply “I do”. When they question was asked the best man responded on behalf of both of them “We Do”. The wedding planner had previously joked with us, not to say that.
