Dear Lida and Costas, like many Greek couples, chose to have their wedding at the Saint George Church Patriarchate of Constantinople in Istanbul, Turkey surrounded by their families and close friends. Saint George Church is considered an important symbol for Greeks as it is one of the most historic and oldest churches under the jurisdiction of the Patriarchate of Constantinople. It is believed to have been built in the early 4th century and has served as a place of worship for Greek Orthodox Christians for centuries. The church holds significance for Greeks both as a religious and cultural symbol, representing their rich history and heritage. Therefore, giving a Patriarchate of Constantinople wedding photography service was a privilege for me.

Next we headed to the wedding ceremony at the Saint George Ecumenical Patriarchate Church. Costas, who was waiting in the church garden, kissed his father’s hand who brought Lida and then received her. Along with the priest, they walked through the church’s corridor and entered the wedding venue. During the Orthodox wedding ceremony, I captured photos using both ambient and artificial light. This church is truly stunning with warm hues that I adore and all the clergy were extremely helpful towards us.
I orchestrated the rice-throwing ceremony for the guests after the wedding and took fun photos as the couple left the church. We also took group photos and a short outdoor shoot in the garden.
Our final stop was The Ritz-Carlton Hotel, Istanbul where the wedding dinner and reception took place. It was a night filled with cake cutting, flower throwing, sirtaki dancing and lots of fun. In short, it was an enjoyable night spent among family with food and entertainment.
The following day, we met with Lida and Costas in Prinkipo (Büyükada), took a short walk in the streets and by the sea and captured some outdoor photos in the island’s atmosphere after the wedding. I am very grateful to have two wonderful Greek friends and wish them a lifetime of health and happiness.
